Overview
MilWALKee Walks (MKE Walks) is dedicated to promoting walking and pedestrian infrastructure in Milwaukee. We train and mobilize Milwaukeeans to advocate for safe, accessible, and equitable walking environments in neighborhoods across Milwaukee. We aim to empower those most directly impacted by traffic collisions and educate local policymakers concerning the rights and needs of pedestrians of all abilities.
Our Vision
MilWALKee Walks (MKE WALKS)
is a pedestrian advocacy program housed
within the Wisconsin Bike Fed.
MKE Walks envisions Milwaukee as
a dynamic city in which the pedestrian experience is embraced as a convenient and safe transportation option, great for exercise or fun.
We envision all residents and visitors of all ages, ethnicities, incomes, and abilities can walk or move safely through Milwaukee neighborhoods.
Our Commitment
To train and mobilize people to navigate City systems in order to win safe and accessible pedestrian environments that produce equitable outcomes for people in Milwaukee.
To support City projects, policies, and budgets that promote safe and accessible pedestrian environments that produce equitable outcomes for people in Milwaukee.
To educate policymakers concerning the rights and needs of pedestrians of all abilities and to partner and invest resources into communities most impacted by our City’s broken transportation system to reimagine public space and movement.
Our Team
Marybeth McGinnis
MKE Walks Program Manager
In her previous home of Madison, WI, Marybeth was involved in safe streets advocacy and community organizing. She’s excited to be a part of making Milwaukee safer for everyone who walks and rolls. While she loves to bike camp and get around on two wheels, you can mostly catch her getting around Milwaukee on an MCTS bus or by foot. Want to talk walking and safety in your neighborhood? Reach out and let’s chat!
Shawn Moore

As a father of six sons and grandfather to five grandchildren, Shawn deeply understands the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment for the next generation. Over the past ten years, he has actively organized initiatives aimed at decreasing violence and making a positive impact on the lives of children in the Milwaukee area. Shawn’s journey is fueled by his belief in community engagement and proactive measures as essential tools for positive change. He will be working on education and developing partnerships to reduce pedestrian fatalities and crashes in some of our most vulnerable communities in Milwaukee.
